Must have a love of new technology, and ability to adapt to changing systems. We’re constantly experimenting with new technology tools and systems to improve our service to our clients and our internal efficiency, which means we use many bleeding-edge software systems; also, we are constantly bringing new systems in for testing, and often abandoning those that don’t work well for us and for our clients. We expect our employees to adapt to this ever-evolving software environment with grace and positivity. So, if you don’t love learning new software and you don’t have a knack for figuring out technology, please do not apply. No exceptions.

You must also be someone who is fulfilled by positive interactions with clients – both internal and external – and providing exceptional customer service. Customer service background is a plus. Must enjoy working in a less formal, family business atmosphere without the office, as we do not have a traditional corporate culture. Nevertheless, we have high expectations of ourselves and our employees, and we project a professional image and achieve excellence.

Because the position is remote, an ability to manage your own workload, plan your work in advance, self-motivate, communicate the status of projects proactively, and meet deadlines is critical. Follow-up, communication, and follow-through are all key. Successful candidates will spend time reviewing their projects and planning out their work each day before diving in, and will also work proactively on projects, figuring out what is required on each project well in advance of the due date so there is plenty of time to ask questions and gather information long before any deadlines creep up. They will also have a good understanding of what they can accomplish in a day so as not to overload themselves, and be comfortable communicating with their supervisor to revise workloads and deadlines together to ensure dependencies are met, and to maintain a healthy work/life balance.

Must love learning, and accept feedback well. By working with our CEO and our bookkeepers, and through hands-on experience, you’ll learn critical business software, success strategies, and business financial management strategies. The learning opportunities abound!

Long-term applicants only please (minimum two years).

  • Law firm bookkeeping/accounting experience
  • Attorney trust account bookkeeping and compliance experience
  • Initiative: Must take a proactive approach to managing your work, your projects, and your clients, and consistently create an exceptional client experience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail: Our clients make high-stakes financial decisions based on information we provide them, and 100% accuracy is expected.
  • Flexible: No task is too high or low. We all handle everything together from managing client accounts to data entry to coffee runs. A creative, whatever-it-takes attitude is critical.
  • Team Player: Works to elevate self and co-workers together; competitive only with yourself.
  • Superior and professional oral and written communication skills. Proactively communicates project progress and status to the team and with clients.
  • Must have own laptop, cell phone, and high-speed internet; company will not provide.
  • AA degree or higher in a financial discipline (eg, bookkeeping, accounting, finance).
